" I have a common law partner back home ( Philippines) that I am planning to sponsor but then, I am thinking first to open a joint account for us so that it could served as one of our evidences. I would like to open that joint account here in Canada that has a partnership with Philippine Bank like Metrobank, BPI, PNB. Is that possible for me to open a joint account here even she is far away from me?"
Note : "po" - is a word of respect in Filipino referring to the person he is talking to. It is used to teach by the parents to say "po" once their children started to talk.

I think my original answer still stands and that is: "Ask the bank".
Different banks may even have different policies on if you can open a joint account when only one of the people is present. If that is the case, then of course you go to the bank that will allow you to.
i am confused.
if they are common law, are they not supposed to be living together.
if they were common law when he was there ( i am assuming he is a PR as he does not speak english so most likely not a canadian citizen by birth) how come he did not put her on the application when he was doing pr for canada.
Its a strange situation.
Could be many reasons. Maybe he got his PR visa and landed before they qualified as common law, then went back and continued to live with her to qualify and now wants to sponsor her
