My application was based on the best interest of the child. My 5 years son is autistic, borned here...and my process took around 13 months until the AIP, so.... Normal process time for me. And my lawyer didn't mention anything about different process time for our case.

No just wait for cic’s response,however if your circumstances changes drastically like if you get a very well paying job,definitely inform them via the webform and submit the updated job letter,it will add some advantage to your application,good luck

Yes you should ask your local mp that normal processing time has passed,assist me dealing with CIC,also like Idris mentioned apply for gcms notes to see whats the latest status of your file as it provides a more detailed picture of your application

In looking at this chart it is not difficult to envision a scenario where future cuts to international student or foreign worker programs could be much more severe than those seen to date.

It remains unclear whether this will be accomplished through legislative changes, program reductions, higher refusal rates, or prolonged processing delays that may frustrate individuals into leaving voluntarily.

But what i am worried about i this.

For anyone thinking of applying for H&C for parents this comes with huge risks. H&C was never meant to circumvent PGP process and parent sponsorship was never guaranteed. If denied then parents will struggle to visit Canada in the future. There have been quite a few parents getting denied H&C as the number of parents who apply for H&C continues to rise. Assume H&C program will also have to undergo reforms after the asylum system since the program is completely overwhelmed by applicants and as Canada tries to reduce temporary residents & PR numbers. People think this is an easy pathway to PR but it is not.
If the child is able to access healthcare currently this wouldn’t be viewed as an urgent H&C and would have normal processing time.
