Work permit just after AIP (first stage approved). Take 12-20 months.

thank you so much.!
I thought I can apply for WP after this letter.
My PGWP expired, so I did submit a application to extend to buy more time to work after submitting H&C. Seems like I have to stop working after getting refused from extend application then wait for AIP from H&C.
Could you please let me know what the AIP means?

AIP = Approval in Principle. When the IRCC officer approves your eligibility and grants an exception to the law. So you got a AIP letter.

Hi all. Had anybody received Portal 1 from Niagara office recently?

How long was you waiting after 2nd stage docs submission?

Hi nick i called IRCC, and they said my eligibility and medical are passed. However, my last medical was almost five years ago. Could you confirm if a new medical exam is required?
According post-covid backlog measures - IME valid for 5 years. But they theoretically could ask for new one, if you had left Canada for more then 6 months

You can apply for refugee same time with H&C.
Having refugee claim paper, apply for benefits, subsidized housing etc
Don’t do this please, ask the CBSA officer if you’re eligible for PRRA, you can’t be removed if you have PRRA application pending

My AIP was approved on July 23
I sent the requested docs on August 2
and like so many, nothing happened after that.

You are likely stuck in the backlog. There are others waiting similar periods of time so not out of the norm although I’m sure not what you want to hear. As long as your processing time is similar to others then all people can really do is wait. Likely as P2s from 2024 are landed they will start issuing more P2s for those waiting.

He is waiting just for 6 months. Nothing special

When you hear this message in automated phone system that means they have started processing your application and your file is assigned to officer. You will get decision within few months.
Is it really, I did not know if I could get automated phone message after it has started to process. Thank you for the detail.
One more question, when I check my status online, I do not see any update, it probably means it hasn`t been started to process by an officer, right?
