Hi, I got a visitor visa for 6 months and about to arrive in Canada by this month-end. My boyfriend is there in Canada. I am going to visit him. Whether can I apply for a work permit from there if I get the job there..? I came to know that I had to reach the Canda USA border and inform the Border Security Officer that I need the work permit and provide my passport, Visitor visa and Offer letter to get the work permit. Is it really true..?
Kindly help. PLs PLS PLS

No - it's not true. A job offer isn't enough to get a work permit.

You need both a job offer and an approved LMIA to qualify for a work permit. The approved LMIA is something your employer in Canada must get and it usually takes 4-6 months for the LMIA to be processed.

If you arrive in Canada as a visitor and tell the border official that you need a work permit, you might end up on the first plane back home.
