What are the chances of getting approved for a study permit if applying within Canada?
For example, you are on a tourist visa. Then, you get an acceptance letter from a school you applied for. Then, you have all the documents required for a student permit. You submit them while you're still on a valid status in Canada.
You have all the resources/sponsors (on hand) you need to get you by in the two-year course. Is it possible to be approved with a study permit if you're applying Inland (and not from your home country)?
Well if your tourist visa expires during processing of your study permit application, you can still stay in Canada on implied status. And if you are issued a study permit, then that's your legal status to remain in Canada.
I am also on a visitor visa and seeking to apply student visa from within Canada with a valid visitor status. I checked CIC website, it is written that we must apply outside Canada. As you guys did it, kindly guide me how to do it. I really appreciate it.
Call IRCC on 1-888-242-2100 from inside Canada or on +1 613 944 4000 from outside Canada. Get to an agent by going through the menu. It takes a while so be patient and listen to the menu carefully. When you get to a call centre agent, ask him/her about your situation. I do not want to misguide you.
I was in Canada on Post Graduate Work Permit so I was able to apply from within Canada but my application was considered as an extension to my status rather than an initial study permit.
