GCMS shows 'Security Screening' and waiting... - let's gather here!

Hello all,
I am pretty in the same situation, been in CSS since the 14th May 2024, ordered first GCMS notes which showed received by GCMS, then ordered the notes a second time and this time instead of received by GCMS it showed "favourable" but still background review showing in progress, the last week received remedical request and PCC ADR. This long long long waiting is just exhausting.

"favourable" means that you've passed the screening. No more worries, you will get the Final Decision in no time. Congrats in advance!

I hope so, the problem is that this favourable note was qoted since the last 17 September 2024 and as I said my background review is so far still in progress on the Tracker, anyway something happening at least.

Hi, how do I know if I’m under comprehensive security? I know that I’m under security screening as per my GCMS notes which states that my cv was sent to CBSA for additional information on Master/Phd but I couldn’t see anything that states comprehensive

You should find that on the security screening type, for me its A34 Comprehensive, so if you dont have it, it means you are under a different type of security screening.

I got this update today. Any idea what could be next?


I got final decision and portal 1 yesterday. I encourage everyone in this mess to be strong and know that one day it will come to an end. We hope that someday the system will sanitise the process and things will become better. Thank you all and I wish everyone the best

You should find that on the security screening type, for me its A34 Comprehensive, so if you dont have it, it means you are under a different type of security screening.

Yeah but I want to have a better understanding about how much the screening will take. Cause I know comprehensive can take up to 18 months but I would like to know the type of screening that I’m currently in how much can take

The A34 Comprehensive info is usually concealed in the notes by the officer. The only way to find out nowadays perhaps is to request a CSIS notes, if they processing your case you’re in css, but it is going to take months for the notes to get back to you. It’s really hard to tell if you’re under comprehensive and especially hard to estimate the amount of time it needs to process.

CSS since the last 14th May 2024 and still counting. No body can give you a timeline for this process, it can vary from around 9-10 months up to 2 years for the most severe cases.

Ordered CSIS notes on Dec 16, 2024 and did not receive yet. Before, it took around 30 days to receive CSIS notes.

Do you have a Due date on your GCMS notes? Mine says Mid July but not sure if that is reliable

Same here, from Dec 12.
we can't complain before 60 days pass.
