Hi I am one the pgwp holders who are eligible for the 18 months extension. I have opted in but have not received any updates from the opt in. I am starting to believe my opt in was not received because of IRCC’s error in the system. I have submitted another application through normal extension process but that will also take 5months. Thus I was planning to flagpole to get the extension. My work permit expired on April 11th, 2023. But I have a valid visitor visa until August 2025. Now can I flagpole to get the extension of Pgwp following the public policy?? Please help, I really need the work permit urgently because I am pregnant and I need to apply for my husband to come to Canada during this time.

If your current WP is already expired you can’t just go to the border and apply for an extension. You can call IRCC or submit a webform to confirm that your opt in for the PGWP extension has been received has been submitted. Would warn you that SOWP is not guaranteed and it can take up to 6 months so would have a plan B as well. Did you recently get married? How much time have you spent with your spouse in person if you have been studying in Canada and then working on PGWP.
I have been working in Canada full time on my pgwp for 1.5years and studied here for 1 year before. I went back to my home country in 2020 and was there until I moved back on my pgwp in March of 2022 . We got married in march 2021 and spent a year together. We were in a relationship from 2019 though. Sowp is guaranteed if I receive my permit. Thanks for the information that I would not be able to flagpole.
