Is it necessary to get both FBI and State Police Certificates? I submitted for my FBI today but not my state? I was unaware that we had to have both. When you send to the FBI will they process both for you? Also if I have to have a state certificate as well for California can I get it done via live scan or does it have to be rolled prints? Thank you!!
I suppose, states like mine wouldn't have the facilities to. But then again if they don't then immigration isn't getting the whole picture either then. But I don't want to do more paperwork.
If you've been arrested and fingerprinted, that record is with the FBI, whether found guilty or innocent. Those are the only things the FBI reports. They do not report things as traffic citations, unless you were arrested and fingerprinted. This is per CJIS, yesterday.

That's what I thought. Because I really don't think the CIC cares whether you got a speeding ticket in 1995 but if you robbed or assaulted someone that's a big difference. But then again, I'm not sure how it all works it just seems logical for them to have info from all states to do their jobs effectively.
Thank you! I am good, no reports here!! Would you wait to get the certificate to submit the application or send it in later? We get our meds done in Toronto in jan but I want the application sent off by February 1st. We really want to move by the fall of 2015. I sent the FBI app about 1 week ago. Thank you for everyone's responses!!
You can send your app in without the report. I did. I attached a copy of the FedEx slip to show we submitted for and made a note that CJIS recently extended their timeline from 21 days to 12+ weeks and we will send it on once it arrives.
To give you some perspective, our application went into queue on Oct 22nd and as of Monday, it still hasn't been opened. You can call CJIS and they will give you the most recent dates for opening applications, and the dates they're finalizing applications.
