To all those who are planning for a short landing.
Recently a family from Pakistan came to Calgary for short landing, When they were going back immigration officer specifically told them this is not a good idea, If you have any emergency you should tell Immigration properly that you are leaving country and they will stop PR cards and will allow you to leave. But the family was so confident that nothing happens, our friend will later on mail our PR card and we will be good to come back.
But after two weeks their relative told them that he had a letter from CIC and CIC want them to resend their pictures, Stamped by the photographer and with the details.
Now how they can take picture and stamped from canadian photoshop and resend it in three days to CIC?
Moral of the story wait till you get your PR card.
There are just few ups and downs of story now they can't enter without PR card So situation for them is tense and critical too.

There seems to be a bit of exaggeration in this story and i hardly believe it to be true. Here are the reasons why i think its fake/made up:
1. You will not meet an immigration officer when you leave Canada. Only when entering.
2. As a landed immigrant you have the right to leave without "permission" from immigration as you had suggested. You are a "permanent resident"!!
3.Even if they didn't get their PR cards, they could always apply for PRTD document - at the Embassy - to return and they will get it without issues as long as they meet/(or still have enough buffer to meet) the current residency requirement (i.e. 2 years out of 5).

While leaving Canada there is no immigration like we have in India. That is why we have lot of problem while renewing PR card. They don,t have record in the system how many days we stayed in Canada. They rely on our passport stampings from our home country for residency day calculations.
