I've been working for one year, full time in a skilled trade (type B) using a post graduation work permit, I would like to extend my stay, my employer is giving me a permanent job offer (stating that if I receive a PR he can hire me permanently) and I'm applying with 2 months left of validity in my work permit. Do I need a labour market opinion HRSDC?
Also does it matter if I'm working in a different trade, not related to my studies in Canada?
Your job offer letter is good for your application for permanent residence. That application however does not authorize you to stay and work in Canada - you do need a new work permit, and that is a completely separate application.
And yes, you will need a positive LMO to get a new work permit.
Note that to apply for PR as a skilled worker in the "arranged employment" category, you MUST remain in Canada on a valid work permit throughout the entire processing period, otherwise you will lose your eligibility.
So, two different applications / processes, but they are related. Note that with only 2 months left on your PGWP, you are running out of time very quickly. LMOs take time.
NO, it does not matter that your employment is in a different field than your degree.
The smart and well-educated can find all this information on the CIC website
Thank you so much jes_On, the thing is that I was getting really confused reading about the PNP and other related classes.
Possibly the circuits in my brain were over-heating
Pullox - here's the good news-although your employer does have to get a positive LMO before you can renew your work permit, because you were originally hired on a PGWP, s/he doe not have to demonstrate recruitment effort.
Thank's again my friend, you are either my Guardian Angel or at least sent by It . I really appretiate your help!
Just as a comment, but for a novice or rookie like me it is always confusing to keep seeing "Canadian work experience related to their field of studies" ??? (line 3 of Information for employers paragraph). However I must confess that after so many reassurances about it I just take it as something possibly not meant to be comprehended, a simple and profound elaboration or conspiracy of the bureacratic system. (Don't worry I joke all the time)
