Im 26Y.O. from NIG. but, Ive been residing in Canada since I was 18 Y.O., and I just got a police clearance through RCMP to go with my application. However the police clearance reads that my fingerprints were not taken in order to generate the report, true. Do I absolutely have to go through submitting my fingerprints to RCMP and getting a police clearance that reflects that? My Post Graduate work permit expires soon, can I send in my application right away (since its technically ready, except for this police clearance thing) and then send the fingerprint police clearance later on once i get it done? or is it better to wait and do the fingerprint thing before sending in the application?
You do not need the RCMP clearance. The requirement is for every country you've lived in EXCEPT Canada. That is because CIC automatically conducts name-based checks for all applicants. Only if there's a problem with that, will they request a fingerprint based check.
On the other hand, you do need a PCC from your home country.
Well, first, it is a requirement of the application, CIC asks for it as part of the application package, a PCC from every country you have lived in for at least 6 months from the age of 18. If you don't submit it at the same time as the application, you should be able to submit it on request, but some countries have special procedures/rules (can't say any more without knowing the country). You could order your GCMS notes and see what it says about it.
Yes, I was thinking it may be because I have been living in Canada for 6 years now, or they have forgotten about it! Anyways I have it ready in case they ask for it. And as you said I will apply for the notes to see what is going on.
