If the passport is expiring soon, you should renew it and inform IRCC by sending a scan of the passport. This will help you in tow ways.
1. The PR visa is usually not issued beyond the validity of the passport. If the passport is expiring soon, the visa validty will be limited.
2. If the passport expires after you move to Canada, you will have to go through all the hurdles of getting it through your country's embassy, and it may be much easier to have it done in your current country of residence.
Yes,few of us post March copr holders who got remed last month have been getting medical passed on our profile.
I think IRCC is perhaps doing a batch by batch thing. Just guessing though
I think after 8 days of completing the medical, the medical clinic transmits results to IRCC and within a week or so,the medical passes. Like lots of people who went for the remed got medical passed last week
What's your "latest update" on the GC account under "Application status"? When I checked last week it said Latest update: "Final decision - your application was approved on xx". Today I noticed that the latest update is "medical passed on December 2019". A bit later when i checked it said "background check passed on march 2020".
My COPR expired May 9th 2021, no news and letters from ircc. Does anybody have something alike? Does it mean something?

My status has been changing like that constantly since being approved, sorry but it doesn't seem to mean anything
My COPR is also expired with no contact.
