I have applied for Express Entry (CEC) my spouse is in canada for more that 6 months but I have not included him in the application as it lowers my CRS score.
I submitted my file on Feb 7.
on Feb 1 9, I got 3 messages in my account
1. my medical has passed(normal)
2. I am required to do biometrics (normal)
3. They need Certified criminal record check RCMP..fingerprint based one for my husband.
Can you please explain the need for Number 3?
Is this normal for CIC to ask for RCMP certified criminal record check?
Why do they need it?

Yes, IRCC often requests RCMP checks. It means that your husband has similar information as someone with a record and they need fingerprints to verify it isn't him.

Why you haven't included your husband in the application? How will he get PR?
Is your husband in Canada on study visa or work permit?
If the person has stayed for more than 6 months in Canada, IRCC usually asks for RCMP clearance check.
I am not sure even though you have excluded him from the application, why IRCC is asking for RCMP clearance check. Maybe it's a requirement regardless of the spouse is included in the application or not.
IRCC automatically runs name-based Canadian criminal record checks on ALL applicants, which is why you do not need to provide one for Canada.
However, if the name-based check comes back with a criminal record (meaning, someone with the same or similar name has a criminal record), IRCC then requires a fingerprint-based criminal record check to determine whether your husband is, or is not, the person with the criminal record.

Hello all,
I was reading of how to get biometrics from RCMP but i did not understand about the agency they mentioned on CIC site. And for it do we need appointment from RCMP office or we can go directly there to submit our fingerprints?
Hi were on the same boat. I didnt include my husband on my application but IRCC is asking for his RCMP. He have never been in Canada. What steps did you make? Any advise? They give me 30 days to do it.
Do we need to get Criminal record check upfront before an ITA or do we need to do this check upon request from IRCC/CIC?
we are living in Canada for more than 6 months.
