Yes I received my passports too last night. Passports sent on 28th July & returned on the 21st of August, less than what LVO says will be the turnaround time.

Thanks, congratulation to you as well dear Smikri. When are you planning to do your landing. My visa expires on 16th june, 2014, so probably i will be landing during college holidays of my kids in may, 2014. Seems we have been quite lucky to receive our passports back in 3 weeks time.

I just want to share something which might be of use.
For those who wanted to open a bank account in Canada, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) you can do that here in Dubai. They have a representative office here. It's located at 1403 Park Place tower, Sheikh Zayed road (close to the Trade Centre Metro Station).
They do not require a minumum maintaining balance unlike HSBC, you can open a bank account from here for Canada but the lowest maintaining balance you should keep is $20,000. For those who have more than enough to deposit then that amount is nothing, but for those who doesnt have much, then RBC is the best one.
You can just call up the RBC Wealth Management office here and they will request for your form to be emailed to you to start the process. Then you have to do a personal appearance to certify that you are indeed the person who is applying for the account and once you are back in Canada or you landed, you just have to go to any of their branch to activate the account. You can only deposit money while your abroad but once you reach there you will have the option to withdraw as well.

We haven't moved yet. We came back to Dubai. We are planning to move there for good by next year.
We just did the landing process and then came back. We are still waiting for our PR card and hope that my husband's card will be ok. CHC london made a mistake on his place of birth and we landed anyway without having it amended.
All said and done.. we are hoping for the best when we move to Canada and yeah all the best to you and your family when you move to Canada.
My Ecas changed to decision made on 2nd Sept but still didnot receive passport back !! I am bit worried, as Ecas doesn't show any Canadian address as well : :
