I was doing a little web research on Express Entry, and this is what I stumbled upon in one of the CIC sites (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/hire/cec.asp):

"The cap of 8,000 new Canadian Experience Class applications has been reached. Starting January 1, 2015, all applicants must go through the Express Entry system. There will be no occupation lists or caps under Express Entry."

Quite surprising. Let's gather more information about it in this thread.

PS: I'm sorry if it's a false alarm. Maybe this site is under construction and is intended for post-Jan 1, 2015 visitors?

False alarm: As per CEC site cap not reached yet, I paste data below from site-

'Total applications received towards the overall cap: 4,537 / 8,000' as of today.

Cheers

I dont think it as fals alarm as its in official website of CIC but may not be in right place. I still feel that the info. is correct and CAP is reached.
I hope they accept few more but fact is fact.

This is weird :-\ both sites were updated on Nov 26, one says 4537 and the other that cap has been reached... Interesting ???

I just called up CIC and the person I talked to confirmed that the CAP has not been reached and 4587 is the correct number of applications they accepted. She had given me this information after checking with someone and she seemed quite confident about it too.

But then again, a friend had also called up at the same time and the customer rep he had talked to wasn't able to tell him which one was the right information... Not sure why there is a discrepancy within the information that the Call center people are provided...

Fingers crossed!

OK Will I get my application back if the cap has been reached? Any ideas?

Yes, if cap has been reached, your application will be sent back.

4537 are those applicants who has already got AOR.

They might said " 8000 Cap has been reached" based on application received not on AOR issued.

Going by the count on the website.....The total number of AOR issued is 1329.....(Counting for Each NOC) and the Total applications received towards the overall cap: 4,537 / 8,000.

The NOC numbers of that list are only for category B. What about category 0 and A? You don't know how many AOR has been issued for those 2 categories.

+1 for that.

NOC 0 or A have no sub caps. They have the overall 8000 applications cap.

I did talk to CIC today and they mentioned that those are the applications received ,not received and accepted.
The wording also mention the same : Total applications received towards the overall cap: 4,537 / 8,000
So,I presume it is not the count for which AOR generated but applications received.

I can't put in to words what this thread has done tonme today

Needless to say I am sure you all understand specially those who haven't yet rcvd aor

I called CIC and I was told that the cap has in fact been reached..

She put me on hold and confirmed with someone

She said the link above was updated on 26th nov and hence this is correct

But someone up above is saying both updated on the 26th

I am going crazy literally!

What will be our future if this is in fact true

All my life is here! One of the worst days of my life is this news is true

At this point I am not even sure if I am within those 8000 or not

Whats is CIC doing!!!!???

We don't even know what Express entry qualifications exactly are

Yes yes I am going insane here..help me

Applications is considered "application received " once it is deemed complete and payment is being charged. That indirectly means issuance of PER.
