I was doing a little web research on Express Entry, and this is what I stumbled upon in one of the CIC sites (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/hire/cec.asp):
"The cap of 8,000 new Canadian Experience Class applications has been reached. Starting January 1, 2015, all applicants must go through the Express Entry system. There will be no occupation lists or caps under Express Entry."
Quite surprising. Let's gather more information about it in this thread.
PS: I'm sorry if it's a false alarm. Maybe this site is under construction and is intended for post-Jan 1, 2015 visitors?
I dont think it as fals alarm as its in official website of CIC but may not be in right place. I still feel that the info. is correct and CAP is reached.
I hope they accept few more but fact is fact.
I just called up CIC and the person I talked to confirmed that the CAP has not been reached and 4587 is the correct number of applications they accepted. She had given me this information after checking with someone and she seemed quite confident about it too.
But then again, a friend had also called up at the same time and the customer rep he had talked to wasn't able to tell him which one was the right information... Not sure why there is a discrepancy within the information that the Call center people are provided...
Going by the count on the website.....The total number of AOR issued is 1329.....(Counting for Each NOC) and the Total applications received towards the overall cap: 4,537 / 8,000.

I did talk to CIC today and they mentioned that those are the applications received ,not received and accepted.
The wording also mention the same : Total applications received towards the overall cap: 4,537 / 8,000
So,I presume it is not the count for which AOR generated but applications received.
