My pr card expires in July 2023 and I was planning a short 4 day trip from Toronto to Mexico for Mid March 2023.
On the CIC website it seems to say it is fine to travel on a pr card as long as it isn't expired. Any thoughts on this ?
I am concerned if I try to renew my pr card right now it won't be available by my march trip and renewing it means the current one will be rendered invalid for travel. Should I go ahead and travel on my current card?
You should have no problems, assuming you have met the Residency Obligation (R.O.) that is needed to maintain PR status. Even if you have not met the R.O., you will still be allowed to return to Canada with your valid PR Card, but could face questions from CBSA.
Your choice whether to apply for the renewal now, or after you return in March. Once a PR is approved for their renewed PR Card, their current card becomes invalid 60 days after the new card is ISSUED by IRCC, unless it expires sooner.
