Can experience gained prior to the last 3 years count?

I was planning on applying for the CEC later this year, but I not sure if I will qualify... I worked in Canada from Aug 2006 until Dec 2007 and then I returned home. I will starting a new job in Canada in April 2009 on a 1 year contract, so I was planning to apply for the CEC in Oct 2009, which would give me 24 months experience. However, this means that my 24 months experience was gained over the last 39 months, rather than the last 36 months. Would I still be eligible to apply?

No, it says 36 months, not 37,38,39.
