My brother's gf back home (Indonesia) cannot divorce her husband unless he sign the papers.
He's refused to do anything and will not divorce her even though they've lived separately for over 6 months...
She's planning to apply for a visitor visa to come to Canada within 1 year...
I think we would have to indicate her status as married since that is the truth...
If in the future she wants to marry my brother here, what will happen to her marriage status from back home?
Will she be able to divorce the husband from Canada? Will she be able to marry him even though legally she is still married with husband back home?

If she gets a divorce in Canada, she would have to meet the following criteria.
Who can apply for a divorce in Canada?
You can apply for a divorce if:
* you were legally married in Canada or in any other country;
* you intend to separate permanently from your spouse and believe there is no chance you will get back together, or you have already left your spouse and do not intend to get back together; and
* if either or both of you have lived in a Canadian province or territory for at least one year immediately before applying for a divorce.
You do not have to be a Canadian citizen to apply for a divorce in Canada.
She would be divorced, don't know if her country of residence would recognize the divorce.
