My PR application is currently being processed (Inland FSW though I'm eligible under CEC). The closed workpermit that I'm currently on would expire mid next year. I'm expecting PPR in Feb 2016 based on the current avg processing time.
However, I would like to jump ship and explore other opportunities in Canada. Am I eligible to apply for a BOWP right now?
Also, if my employer decides to end my contract here, what options do I have? Can I continue residing in Canada until my Visa expires? My wife who is also working here in Canada is on a Open work permit directly tied to my Closed WP.

Hi - You can apply for new Work permit only within 4 months of your current WP expiry. If your current WP is expiring on June 2016, then you can apply only in March 2016. Since you are expecting your PPR in Feb 2016 then its not required at all. Also as per the current timelines processing of BOWP is taking around 110-115 days.
