So does this mean that harper had the mandate to do whatever needs to be done since he had "the majority of Canadians" behind him with 39.6% of the votes. Yet we all keep hearing, "Harper does not have the mandate since he never gotten 50% of more". Can we say the same for Trudeau?
I don't know about others, but I certainly did not make that argument. My response was merely on the point of your erroneous comparison of vote shares from two different elections.
Having said that, Trudeau absolutely does have the electoral mandate, and so did Harper when he was the PM. Anybody who says that one need to have 50% of the popular vote for it be considered a mandate has zero understanding of the Westminster model Parliamentary system.
Harper and what he stood for went against the VALUES of Canada. The policy was dreadful and he was steering the country in a bad direction - with bad international relations. Most Canadians voted for a change - assuming it couldn't be worse than what they were getting from the CPC and Harper himself.
Rightly said friend. Its exhausting going through all the political analysis and debates. Everyone has a personal agenda for supporting C6. If we were already Canadian citizens, we won't be here on this forum. So let's not act as liberal senators and maintain focus.
