If we have the Libs and Non-Aff on the same side it's still good no ? I know it's not guaranteed but I hope JT wasn't dumb enough to select Senators that may give a hard time to his bills.
True. What I hope is that when they left Harper's caucus they also left the mentality that goes with it and would be inclined to compromise and follow the other Non-Affiliated Senators lead.
Honestly, Partisanship is an inherent part of Human nature. Most of the Senators don't give a leg about C-6's meaning and results, they just want to be on the winning side. By default, it's the government, and if they are not bound to Tories by any formal partisanship line they may follow the growing crowd of C-6 ays...

Keep in mind that each Senator is free to vote as he or she pleases. It is true that those appointed by Harper might vote against C-6, but that would be because they believe C-24 is right. At this stage, they do not have to care about what Harper says because he is gone from the political scene. The other thing we need to keep in mind is that there may be several other Senators (Liberal and independent) who might disagree with C-6. In all honesty, it depends on how they view it. If they focus on the fact C-6 will allow a terrorist to keep his citizenship, then they might disagree with it. But if they are more open minded and see how this rule may go beyond what it says, then they might think otherwise. All of us on this forum are super biased because we are directly affected by C-24, hence we want C-6 implemented ASAP. The Senators are not necessarily affected by it, so they are not biased. Now their opinions will be subjective basic on the logic they adopt. In all fairness, Senator Frum is not some evil witch who hates immigrants and wants to make life difficult for them. She believes C-24 solves the issue in hand, and defended it accordingly.
I apologize, but he is not.
This bill will not be amended.
The Finance committee conservatives tried to amend the Tax cuts but the amendments were deemed irrelevant coming from non-elected senators and cancelled. No amendmemt not expected by the government will be accepted.
