I would like to link my paper based application online, but every time I try, I get " No application found".

How do I write my give name : SHADAD AHMED OR SHADABAHMED

Also how does one link application online if the applicant does not have a family name in his passport. My friend was instructed by the VFS office to fill in his given name in the family name section and leave the given name section empty.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am also facing same issue. No family name. AFAIK we cannot link our application.
We have to live with VFS updates.
Worst, we will only know if visa is approved once passport reaches our hand.

It sucks! But that is how it is in our case
 
Applied on 19th July Chennai VFS - now getting processed at Bangalore CIC - Paper-based application - Medicals passed on 30th July - still no updates - my classes start on 9th September - still I haven't booked my tickets

Friends suggest what should I do now?

check your cic account for the status of your application did u link it ? and when did u apply ?
