Over the past 7 years I have lived in 4 countries, Japan, Korea, NZ and Australia. Do you think this
will make my background check take longer?

CIC will do all background checks on each Country so could prolong the timeline , maybe other posters on here could give you a time line with experience

It's depend if Ur visa officer will be OK with Ur all records but if they want to do deep checking then yeah it will be take long background check

I think it's very difficult to say what will happen. I was expecting a long background check for my husband since he had lived in the US (four different States), Kuwait and Egypt. However our entire application only took 4 months.

Lilian , when did your background/security check start ? I'm into my 6 month in November .Mine started on the 6th May .

Congrats on this good news. How did you know that you background check has been completed? Did you contact CIC?

My e cas has changed to "Decision made". Just waiting for the letter with instructions for landing .

I just received a letter from CSIS - my background check was already completed on June 30. I really don't understand why does it took 4 more months to get my "Decision made - landing interview" letter.

This is very sad. The problem must be the consulate then, since they did delayed your case.

Which Canadian consulate are you dealing with?

When did you send the letter to the CSIS, and what letter format/ CSIS address did you use? I need to go the same thing. My background check is taking a lot of time and I am still waiting.

My case is with the CSIS too and has been for 6 month now this isnt funny any more !

I faxed CSIS a letter in September and they replied shortly before 30 days with a standard reply explaining , Security Screening is a complex matter and The SIRC ( WATCH DOG OVER CSIS) ARE FULLY AWARE that the more complexed cases can take up to 16 month !


All I did was fax a letter , heres what you need to send them

Your name

CID number

DOB

Address

Phone number

Explain you are applying for PR and you would like to know if your still undergoing Security Screening.

They WILL NOT tell you how long they will take, but they do explain the procceeds.

Just to add , I also oredered my FOSS notes before I faxed CSIS to make sure CSIS had my file still. Have you ordered yours ?
