My mother in law was denied for refugee. I'm assuming she was deported as she didn't leave when she was to. She fought to stay and it failed.
She's been back home since 2012 so in Oct 2018 I put through a visa application and ARC to see if she could return to Canada, on April 25 they sent the denial. They do not believe she will return back to her home country.

is there any point in fighting this?

in my opinion visitor visa on its own is very difficult to obtain, how much more someone who was deported. it will be very hard to convince the officer she will return considering the deportation history.
