I'm currently in the process of changing my last name to my husband's, so I'm getting a new passport and am unable to complete my biometrics. I'll hopefully complete it in early December. Kind of shot myself in the foot by slowing down the process, but my husband and I agreed that it's better to get the name change out of the way now then have to deal with it in the future when everything is finalized. We called IRCC before deciding to start the process of changing my last name and they said that we shouldn't have any issue with it affecting our application.
Still stuck waiting for eligibility to start and complete along with background check. No pre arrival recive last update was in Nov 26th medical pass. Application submitted August 1st
Hello everyone
I applied for sponsoring my spouse (outland) on Dec 2nd and on Jan 17th, medical was completed/passed, previously biometrics were completed, sponsor and spouse eligibility was completed, pre arrival letter was received. Currently, tracker is showing Background verification 'In progress' and medical, biometric and eligibility as 'completed'.
Can you please guide how long background verification usually takes and are there any other steps?
Thanks in advance.
he is referring to when the tracker reflected eligibility for sponsor completed then the approval is when he got the actual letter stating they approved them as a sponsor

Means after medical pass its taking tooo much time specially background check … my background keep changing to not applicable to we are processing and then again not applicable on gc key tracker
how did you link to GC KEY, mine keeps giving me errors even though I filled it correctly.
Also, I'm in the same stages as you, the background check is still in progress, and everything else shows as completed. I just can not get it to link it to GCKEY. Thanks
My boyfriend has been here 9 months since his work visa expired. If we get married will there be any problems. I was worried I would get in some kind of trouble. How long would it take before he can legally work in Canada after we're married. Does he have to apply for a work visa or how long does it take before he can get his sin card .I want to do things the right way.
I recently received a passport request letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) regarding my Permanent Residence application. However, as a Bahamian citizen with an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), I am exempt from submitting my original passport and have been instructed to provide only a photocopy of the passport photo page along with other required documents.
I understand that applicants submitting their original passports must pay the VAC Passport Transmission Fee, but my situation is slightly different. Therefore, I would like to confirm whether I am still required to pay this fee even though my package will not include an original passport and does not need to be returned to me.
