Someone else here was also asked an ID around the time of test because the ID was "missing" in their application. It was probably missed at the time of the initial review and when someone was actually assigned to process the application, they probably noticed it.
A provincial ID is the best way to go. I remember reading about someone using their health card without a photo on it during the application filing but not sure about the eventual result. But now since they're explicitly asking you for a photo ID it's better to take the time and get the provincial photo ID.
My hunch is you'll get DM status as soon as you send your ID.

Update on spouse's online application: DM (July 20)! (Everything but Oath marked complete).
Timeline and LVO are identical to mine (mine are in signature below) with one difference: she took the test on May 2 (marked complete on May 3, BGC marked complete Apr 4). Rest all is the same. Another notable difference from a profile standpoint is that she has no travels since landing (maybe that's why faster than mine even with a later test date).
On the other hand, the email said to provide a provincial ID... it did not specify it needed to be an ID with a picture and signature on it. Unlike when we submitted the application. So maybe it will be fine. Either way, IRCC will contact you again if the ID is not to their expectations.

I dont think you need a provincial ID. passport works well even if it from another country. It is still a government Issued ID. and health card along with that will work. I uploaded these on my file. why would they expect another type of ID when they accept these.
If you still want to get an ID and upload, thats your choice to make.
Take care
I got an update today… oath ceremony changed to in progress. But i still dont have instructions. No link or any info on what i need to have. Can anyone explain when these info is sent out?

I just checked my tracker and except physical presence and ceremony, others were completed. I am assuming they accepted health care card but I will go and apply for provincial ID anyway.
