Dear All, I have got the acceptance letter from the Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec. I have applied for the Masters Program in Computer Science for January 2021 Intake. I am going to get married in December 2020. I want to ask what is the possibility of getting spouse visa if we apply at the same time? What are the chances to get the visa for both student visa and open work permit for the spouse?
I heard its common that spouses will travel to Canada first and lodge applications there, this is a popular option before the covid19 situation. and some claims that it is better to apply for spouse open work visa after you have obtained your study permit first.

thank you for the response, I am actually thinking of applying for the visa for both at the same time, do you what is the possibility? also how can we show the strong ties with the home country in order to convince the immigration officer.

if you search old posts on this forum you should be able to see there were many successful cases in which husband and wives applied together (also some were denied though). You only have around 2 months left till you semester begins, I think you should hurry
Tricky, because you are just about to get married. VOs prefer marriages that are at least 1 year old due to prevalent marriage fraud. Honestly, I think in your case, best to apply for yourself alone, then bring your wife later, once you have established proof of the marriage.
Hi, I've applied for study permit for me and my six year old son and SOWP. We all were approved couple of days ago. Applied together, but we are married for almost 10 years.

I am trying to extend my program till summer Sept 2021, this way It will be around 10 months to my marriage. Can you tell me in which program you got the admission? Did you apply for the CAQ? And through which process you will apply for student visa, via from Student Direct Stream or normal process?

My husband and I were married for less than a year, and we got SP+SOWP. However, it is probably because we used to have F1 and F2 for the US and I transferred to Canada this fall. Anyways, anything is possible if you have marriage certificate. We had our wedding ceremony a few months back, but got legally married in December 2019

Can you tell we what are the requirements of CAQ, do we need to show financial proofs to support, if yes, then how much do we need to show for two person means for me and my wife?

Congrats for your approval! I am also in the process of applying for a study permit for me and combine it with an Open work permit for my husband and a study permit for my 13yr old son. I will look for a school for him only after our visa is approved. But IRCC requires me to upload a letter of acceptance for my son, which I do not have at this stage. Could you please advise how did you manage to get a study permit for your 6 yr old son?
