Thanks for the response .but while in canada how do u get your remaining funds send to u?? Considering u are single. Do u order for a bank draft or wiretransfer from ur former local bank taking into consideration that even if ur debit card is activated for international use u can't exceed a withdrawal limit ?
Sorry for the late reply!! I opened a local account with TD then got a wire transfer from my previous account which was in my home country! I paid the fees and surviving on it rn!

Yeah, it an option when one gets a PR. But the scenario I wanted enlightening is when u have a PR app in process n u want to attend university say fall semester n ur PR app would take more time to get approved! Then after fulfilling the requirements for TRV for studies ,u still need to maintain all conditions for the PR still in process such as POF. meaning u travel to Canada to attend classes while ur account back home still meets the minimum requirements for ur PR app in process. Hope u understand the question now ???
After ur PR is approved u need that money to reach u in canada. In ur case u wired all to ur Dad's account b4 leaving while ur PR was still in process. That was my worry
Well, doesn't really matter. It is obvious if you are in Canada you (on a TRV) you will use the money. I transferred all savings to Canadian Bank A/C now if while landing (I got my COPR but need to do flagpoling) they ask me for POF then I will show my Canadian Bank Statement. Most people on Study/Work permit switching to PR doe the same. If you have money in Canadian Bank A/C which is in your name then it means you can and will use it for living in Canada! Some people open Scotiabank A/C and transfer the money there and at border show that as a POF. It works if you can convince the officer. I have my tax receipts (from UK) showing that its my earning if they question on source of funds which they will not most certainly.
It's more clearer with the term "flagpoling" while on a TRV. I now get a clear picture of the process. Kudos!
But why most prefer Scotiabank rather than RBC, TD? I knw one can get a GIC from there, does it offers special products for students or is just a choice ?
Scotiabank allows you to open an account without being in canada physically !! If some gets a PR outside Canada he would’ve a guaranteed money before he lands
Hi all
I have applied for my study permit but meanwhile i have also cracked IELTS with Clb 9, I am planning to apply for express entry once I get decision on my study permit
My questions are:-
1- is this the right way to go or i should apply for express entry once I land in Canada?
2- Can I show GIC as proof of funds for express entry?

Answer
1- inland or outland applicant is accepted but so long as u meet the minimum requirements.
2- GIC is money u receive every month during studies, so as long as its meets minimum requirements stipulated by CIC then that should serve as POF

You need to take Ielts general test and not a academic for express entry and to qualify for the cut off in any DRAW you will have to have three years of work exp atleast. You can’t use GIC I think because you’ll be using that money on your studies or living in Canada so that’s not a fund you’ll readily be availing to use once u get ur PR. Just my thoughts
