Applying for study permit while passport is under renewal process

Hello,

My passport is expiring on January 2021. I have applied for passport renewal, but due to the Covid19 situation, the renewal process will take sometime (a month or maybe months).
I intend to apply for the study permit in Canada as i have a university offer.
My questions are:
1- Can i apply with my current passport, given that i might receive a new passport in a month or so?
2- And if i apply and successfully get the study permit, will i be able to enter Canada (in September) using my new passport while the study permit is on the old passport? (I will have both with me)

Exactly the same situation I am having but I already submitted my visa application and yet waiting.

What are you gonna do if you get the visa? And if you’re applying to Quebec did you get CAQ?

Mine was May intake but due to this ongoing corona pandemic, it has been deferred to the September session. so the travel plan will be in Sept only.
No, I am not applying to Quebec.
