Applicaton Status- CIC - Message Update

Hello!

I had applied for my international student visa on 2nd June, 2016 through Abu Dhabi. As per the processing time, it states 5 weeks from the date of application.

On 20th July, 2016 , I had received an email from CIC that my application has been updated but there is no update yet. Can someone with similar experience explain if it is normal and when can I expect the visa.

Hello Naina,

No worries. You should look at it as something positive. Whenever an officer updates your file or changes/adds information to it, you will receive such an email. Many applicants are receiving the same either in the first 5 days of submission or 3 to 4 days before getting their approval.

My classes start in September so I'm a bit worried about the delay !!!

I've received four of those emails since I applied. You will get many of those before you get a visa.

I have applied from Bahrain & the processing time is stating 5 weeks and not 11-12 weeks even right now hence, a little confused.

Anyhow, thanks again for your reply. Will post queries on the link provided.

Naina, I also applied from Abu Dhabi on the 4th of May. And 2 days ago, I got an email saying your application has been updated but there were no updates! Wow.
Hopefully we both hear back soon!

Yeah I applied from Qatar. From April 28th till last week it showed 5 weeks processing for Qatar. Last week they corrected it to 12 weeks. You want to follow the processing time of the country where you application is being processed for more realistic expectations.
