I have a question about the online application status on CIC's website. I submitted my wife's PR application back in September and received an acknowledgement letter which also stated I was approved as a sponsor. Her application was sent to Ottawa.
The status shown on her PR application says "Application Received" and its been like that since October. Is that normal? I thought it would switch to "In Process" once the sponsorship application was approved.
Also, how long is the processing time for PR applications in Ottawa? The website states 15 months. Is that how long it usually takes or do they usually have the process done sooner?
Don't worry. Processing time for Vienna is 13 months, I applied 10 months ago and my ecas still says "Application received" and "Medical results have been received".
Ottawa's average processing time is 15 months. This means that 80% of all applications are approved within 15 months. Some take longer, some are approved faster. From what I see here in the forum, many people who apply through Ottawa are approved within 6-10 months but it doesn't really mean anything. You could still be one of the 20% who will be approved after more than 15 months.
The times on the website are NOT averages. They are 80% times, meaning basically that 80% of apps in CPP-O are done in less than 15 months, and 20% are done in more than 15 months.
The "average" time for Ottawa is closer seen by the 50% processing time, which is around 9 months.
