How can status for medicals "Review in progress" means his application has been progressed? It just means they are reviewing his medicals, its not in "Passed" status?

Hi, just received an email that my application has been updated. The 'Application/Profile status' changed from 'Invitation Received' to 'Open'. It means that they've started working on the file right?
Yes "Open" means they have created a file in your name and started processing.
BTW, I knew sth was wrong with my application. I got an update today with AOR pdf and the payment confirmation again!

Hi, Sam6227! As I know ... some people usually receive 2nd AOR when their documents are sent to another Visa Office (local one).
For instance, from Ottawa Visa Office to Warsaw Visa Office.

Actually, nobody can give you a certain answer for this question except for CIC officers
But, I do think that your file processing is pretty advanced. You may hear good news by the end of this year or by mid January..
