oh ok.. I think 2worlds1love meant that they are still working on 2014 applications for Dominican applicants.

Hey everyone, I haven't posted here before. I sent my wife's application for Permanent Residence to Mississauga on December 3, 2014. Arrived in Santo Domingo on March 12, 2015. This week eCAS updated from "Application Received" to "In Progress." Today we got the email to send her passport to Mexico! I think some of you guys might be hearing something really soon.

When Mexico is ready fir you to send in your passpirt, they will mail you instructions on what you need to send in! You can send it through federal express or DHL! Although some people have had trouble, because some of these companies claim they can't send passports through the mail! The dominican consulate in toronto told me when im swnding mine, to not tell them that m sending a passport, that way they cant refuse my package! You also have to pay a return envelope fee! In order to get it back! I've heard some pay in total 2500 pesos and some have paid up to 5000 pesos! I also heard the VAC in SD will send it out for you for a fee! So there are various options I have heard of! There could be more, but I know you defintly have to use a Purolator company! I have also heard someone use UPS!

You can't use Purolator because they are a Canadian company and don't operate in the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican consulate has nothing to do with the Canadian immigration process. I wouldn't lie about the contents of the package because everything being shipped from the Dominican Republic is carefully checked and often opened at the US sorting facilities and by US customs. My wife's package went through Miami but arrived in Mexico City the next day. The waybill clearly states that the contents are a passport and documents.

We aren't done waiting yet. Mexico City might take 3 to 4 weeks to return her passport if there are no problems. The letter they emailed us said she has to arrive in Canada before November :-X

I meant to say courier company and not purolator! My mistake and to clarify I'm not talking about the Dominican consulate in Toronto! I'm talking about the vac in SD! they can send ur passport to Mexico for you for a fee if you don't want to use a courier company! But some who have used it said it cheaper to us a courier! I guess it's just peace of mind for those who choose to use the vac
