I just sent my application recently to sponsor my husband and I was approved very shortly. I was wondering if that means the application was done correctly by us. We took our time with it to ensure it was done correctly. So now that it was sent to the DR I am worried they will find something and send it back. Which would obviously delay the whole process. So does anyone know if once it is processed here it is correct? it is good to go? Also, How long does it take once it is sent to the Dominican? I know the processing time says 14 Months in SD. But that seems like too long to me.

Current processing times in Mississauga are short. Less than 30 days. Most sponsors are approved to sponsor very fast in Canada. Even mine was under the time frame.
I cannot say whether it will take the full 14 months or not for your file - as I did not apply through DR. I can tell you that we applied through Ankara and the processing time there was 16 months at the time we applied. My husband got his PR visa in 10 months.
The only thing you need to worry about is whether or not the CIC will view your relationship as genuine or not. As long as you guys don't have serious red flags, your application shouldn't take too long to process.
I sponsored my husband from DR in 2012. At that time the listed wait time for applications was 14 months. My husband's pr was approved in 3 months though, so it was really fast! We did have a long history though, and I lived in DR for 3 years as well, so that really helped to move things along. If u would like to connect with other people married to Dominicans (many who have gone through the pr process, some who are currently going through it) there is a Facebook group called Dominicano Spouses that u can request to join. If u would like I can add u to my Facebook and put the request in for u to join. Currently, from people waiting for pr, it seems like the common timeline is usually between 8 and 12 months. Let me know if I can help u with anything. Good luck!
