Yes you are correct! It all needs to be translated and certified and all that. Each of our documents had 3 or 4 stanps on it to verify all that information.
I don't know anyone in Santiago, my husband is in Santo Domingo and that's where we had ours done.
Can the translator you spoke to do all that for you?
sb414 yes, he says he can but all the signatures and stamps would only be his. This means he translates, prepares an affidavit and of course witnesses the signatures. Definitely something fishy here. Will keep checking and thanks again for the rapid response
ok so I am looking at the copies of our translated documents... on each there are 3 stamps... 1 stamp from the translator, 1 stamp from Procuraduria General, to confirm the document is valid, and the 3rd is also from procuraduria, and for each document we also have an Apostille, to verify all documents. It is quite confusing, but I will speak to my husband today to clarify everything so I can let you know exactly.
As for the passport request, The Mexico office will contact you and the passpot needs to be sent there. Nobody here has had passport request yet, so not too much information on this yet

if you find your having trouble finding a translator in the DR another option for you is to send the documents in to the Dominican consulate in Toronto! They charge 40 us for each document and they will be ready in 3 to 5 business days! Just be careful with translators in DR if you think it's sketchy don't do it! Mexico vo seems to be by the book! My friend just had to get her documents re-translatwd because the translator she used in DR was a fraud! So just ask a lot of questions before submitting documents!
