I've just recieved GCMC information.
It shows everythings have been passed (on Dec06,12 which is the date that my application status has changed to IN PROCESS) and the onlything which is not started is SECURITY SCREENING.
but criminality has been passed.
Does anybody knows how long this item will take to proceed? Is it really depends on how many countries that my hubby visitted before (travelling) :'(
I hope our criminal screening is fast since the only other country my hubby has traveled to is Canada and he submitted both criminal background checks for Turkey and Canada...
I could be wrong, but I think the security/background check takes a look at a lot of different things:
- military service
- political involvement (run for office, etc.)
- employment/education/association history
- countries visited
They also run name checks through various security (terrorist list/watch lists) databases.
This is why I think the majority of the time security/background screening is shorter for women than men in some countries. But then again, some people go through this process fast and others longer with the same kind of situation (nothing that would stand out).
Hi Farnaz,
When You said I've just received GCMC, you meant they issued it recently or the day you applied for it. Did it mention that the SECURITY SCREENING hasn't been started? or is this section blank? the GCMC notes usually reflect the status of the application one month before the actual received date of the notes.

I think you're really lucky farnaz because usually the GCMS notes are dated soon after you apply for them (I have read one week or 10 days later after ordering), but then are not received for 30 days. So it's great that your notes were generated later

My husband wasn't involved in any politics and did not do military service so hopefully that helps us a lot!!! Plus I think its easier for us because He is Turkish and not from other countries that Ankara handles, so everything is done in house and they don't have to contact Iran/Azerbaijan/Georgia for information and background checks. I would think those who are applying from other countries take a bit more time
