Amendment in Study Permit

I got my study permit on 22nd Aug'18 from Vancouver Airport whereas I study in Calgary. My study permit did not have any remark on it (regarding work/employment), so I sent it for amendment. They received my application on 29th August.
Could anyone tell how much time it takes on an average to get back the amended study permit?
I am a little worried because if I do not get it on time, I won't be able to get my SIN on time and hence, no payment on time.

What did you do to request amendment within Canada? I was advised to go across border and have it done instantly.
