I dont know how they are processing, it seems the date of submission is not that relevant. As I know a few people who submitted after me have already received their passports.

I submitted my passports on 4th March 2019 via Aramex and passports were delivered to ADVO on 6th March. However, there was no update till 31st March.
I mailed ADVO (abdbiimmigration@international.gc.ca) on the night of 31st March stating that I had confirmed tickets to Toronto on 11th April and requested them to kindly expedite the visa stamping process. I also attached a copy of my ticket for reference.
Coincidently, my status was updated to APPROVED on 1st April.
Now, I am not sure if the mail did the trick or it was a mere coincidence.
So, In case anyone is in a similar situation, you may try sending a mail with authentic references. It might help to speed up the process.

My husband submitted his passport via Aramex directly to the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. It was received at the embassy on March 18, 2019. We are also anxiously awaiting the return of his passport so that we can book his flight to Canada. We sent London VO an email last week on March 27 and today we raised a CSE. I also sent an email to ADVO (thank you Gokul.Chandran for the email )
I hope we hear back soon...really frustrated with the waiting. VFS Islamabad is processing passports with stamps/visas in 3 to 4 days. Not sure why the large difference between two busy embassies. Anyway...that's my 2 cents worth.
I haven't received any mail from them up till now. However, I got my visa stamped passports yesterday along with the CoPR. They were dispatched the day my application was approved.
One more point to note - the visa issuance date mentioned on the passport is 7th March 2019, which is one day after our passports were delivered to the embassy. (Passports delivered on 6th March 2019). From this, I can only conclude that the delay is in priting of visas on the passports and not on issuance of the visa.

ADVO has a waiting period of at least 22-24 days as of now probably because ADVO handles visa stamping for all middle eastern countries. My passports took 27 days from submission to delivery.
