Hi all, I was browsing the other inland sponsorship threads of different months earlier (namely January 2024 and March 2024) and noticed they talk about P1/Portal 1 and P2/Portal 2 emails. Can anyone here elaborate on what they are? Thanks!

P1:
Will get it after all the stages are completed - this is the initial email from IRCC when your PR application is approved. You’ll receive an email asking for confirmation of your email address, your presence in Canada, when you last entered Canada, height, eye color, and more. You must reply to that email with the requested details to proceed to the next step.
Purpose:
This step ensures that IRCC can set up your PR Portal account.
P2:
This happens after IRCC sets up your account in the PR Confirmation Portal. Then you go to the PR Portal (that you used to submit the PR application), then you upload a photo for your PR card, declare your physical address in Canada where your PR card will be sent and confirm that you’re currently residing in Canada.
Once you complete the steps, IRCC will review the information. Then you will get the email that your Electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence (eCOPR) is ready and able to download in the portal. Then PR card arrives at home.

Thank you for the detailed break down, really appreciate it!
On a slightly different topic, my colleague (Canadian citizen) sponsored his partner (before COVID) and they were interviewed for the authenticity of their relationship. Are all applicants and sponsors interviewed? I'm not sure I've read other people having such experiences.

Question: so far we only receive a letter from IRCC saying:"It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence ad a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada Class..." I would take this as AIP letter. sponsor has not received SA letter. Is anyone on the same boat? both PA and sponsor's eligibility is completed in tracker.
I think you are supposed to get your background verification passed this week or next. Are you still waiting for a MIL ? What eligibility are you referring to on your timeline sponsor or PA?

Actually, I’m confused about the difference between eligibility and AIP. The eligibility I posted refers to mine, while my husband received the Approval in Principle letter on October 15, 2024. I believe this should be the approval for him as the sponsor.

There are 2 eligibilities to pass 1st is the sponsor's eligibility and then the principal applicant's eligibility. AIP usually refers to a letter the principal applicant gets when they pass their eligibility requirements.
