Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hi everyone,
When applying for my kid's Canadian passport by mail, should I include a copy of the proof of parentage or the original?

My understanding from reading the instructions is that the original should be sent. Am I correct?

Bro I would never trust this Canada post, I also had such a bad experience with them. Last time they took almost one letter posted from within Mississauga to Mississauga almost 3 weeks.

the Certificate still with passport Canada people not yet with Canada post they said not sent yet with inactive tracking number but sure what you said is true very bad experiences with Canada post.

Got a call today from passport office. The lady was just clarifying the address for my work and school because I forgot to add city and province. Surprised to see them working on a Sunday.

Hello, I just sent a status request for my passport application. I just want to know if I’m supposed to get an automatic email confirming that I asked for a status request.

here is my timeline:
Passport application received on Jan 21, 2022
CC charged on Feb 4, 2022
Status request sent on Feb 20, 2022

I also did not get a confirmation but I got a reply exactly 3 business days like it said.

So, it seems the passport is now taking more than 30 days to be issued by mail. Before I saw some getting it in 2 weeks. Even passport Canada has a backlog. What's the story?

Yes, after 10 business I did the online status update and I got a reply 3 business days later with a number to call to update my CC information. I called and updated the info and got charged a few minutes after. Now waiting for next steps.
Have you contacted them either by phone or the online status?!

hi, thank you for the reply. I will resend an online status request. I have not received any response from the first one I have sent 14 days after they have received my application.

There is no reason required for travel, just show a plane ticket that was payed and it's in less than 25 business days away

I called the other day (delivered Jan 24, charged Feb 7) and they told me the current backlog is 20-25 business days. No story, they're just behind.

Is that 20-25 business days in total or on top of the original 20 business days standard processing time?
