Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

oh cool, well you could call them bright and early tomorrow morning at 7:30am to be at the head of the line and they should be able to give you a status and possibly even tracking numbers. I'd call and ask for those two things and see what they say. their website says they usually have a status by the 10th business day and you're way past that. if you call, let us know what they say!

Any updates on arrival of your Citizenship certificate and/or Passport? The wait is killing me !

hehe nope, yeah I know the feeling! (laugh) I think I'm gonna take the advice of others in this forum and call on Friday since that'll be approximately 10 business days and see if they have any updates. you?

I called passport office and enquired about the status of my passport. It was 40 minutes + wait to reach the passport specialist. I said credit card has been charged and all. She said everything alright.. it’s in process and by mail it can take upto 2 months for the passport to come from the date the application has been received!!!! So that can be as long as till 20th Dec!!! Long waittttt

oh wow! sorry to hear that but glad that it's in process and means all your documents are there and complete. that's much longer than they've told others recently, but I think you may be the first I've heard working with the NS office. I'll be calling Friday and I'll let you know what they tell me, I hope they don't say the same. eek... but hey, that would be in time for my birthday the next day hehe thanks for sharing that info, and hang in there! ❤

But now that I see.. my application was received on 20 oct 2021… and it has not 20 business days yet since the submission. I guess should just keep patience and hopefully it shall arrive !

yep, that's right. but you could call again on the 18th and submit a complaint then if it's still stuck on processing.

Hi, I want to share my timeline:
Applied via Mail using Canada Post (XpressPost)

Application Sent (from Brampton):
October 20, 2021

Application Delivered (to Ottawa):
October 21, 2021

CC Charged (from Calgary):
November 1, 2021

Citizenship Certificate Received (from Calgary):
November 4, 2021

Hopefully I’ll receive my passport next week!

Update: I just received my passport via Xpress Post today, November 10th!

Just fyi - I called Canada Passport today hoping to get an update on my application. I sent my application by mail on Oct 26th and haven't heard back since. The agent told me that the expected waiting time now is about 8 weeks.

Can anyone shed some light on why the wait period for an appointment to submit a passport application is so long now ? Why don’t passport offices accept walk ins ?

my guess is the easing of restrictions everywhere and people's weariness and desire for reconnection is surging passport apps again in advance of the holidays
