Thank you for the reply. I don't see it mentions anywhere in the article that you can extend BOWP if my current BOWP expires though. Did I miss that part?
I agree with you, but this is clearly the road that IRCC decided to follow. Way easier to process new applications of inlands. No issues with PPR, expired medicals/police certificates, no border to cross, etc.
I called IRCC to get an update on my file today again. Agent told me it has been approved and ready for COPR. Only hold on the file is due to travel restrictions. I then explained the agent that i have travel authorization letter under extended family member and the respone i got is that is not good enough. Only immediate family members can travel with a COPR not an extended family memeber. I involed MP to get an update who suggested to get legal help. @legalfalcon could you please kindly provide some insight on this

There is no public policy that you cannot travel if you have an AL. Issuing COPR is entirely the prerogative of IRCC and the AL does not help, so that call centre agent was right. The travel exemptions were made for specific family members, and if you have to travel you can apply for a TRV and travel, you do not have to wait for COPR.

YEs, you can extend BOWP, if your PR Application is still in progress. Just follow the steps for a regular extension for WP and select open WP as options.

Quick update on our situation: we received COPR today from Paris VO, barely 3 weeks after PPR and 2 after they received our passport copies (no need for passport themselves as we are from visa exempt countries). COPR valid until January 25, 2022, and medicals got automatically extended to the same date. They do mention that no extension is possible after that date, though, so we would forfeit our PR application if we haven't entered the country by then.
