I think in your position I will not cancel representation, should you have paid him/her in full. some time they come handy should there be some appeal documents and or response to be drafted to IRCC.
Right, if you paid money for it and cancelling it won't have refund, then I don't think you want to cancel unless they have a bad reputation and messed up their clients in the past. ECAS is still a good way to check your application progress regardless you have a representative or not I believe.
For those who haven't applied yet, or haven't paid for the representation yet, applying on own behave is good enough since the official site showed the detailed steps that you just need to make sure you are qualify, follow exactly what the site tell you to do, and you will get your PR.
My AR received 19 march 2020 and AOR 22 sep 2020 but when I check my ecas it says we received your application 19 may 2020 instead of march. Does anyone know why they mention 19 may

Good question. ECAS will only show you the AR, AOR, MP and DM stages (not sure if it includes CoPR). You won't get ADR, MR, BIL and PAL messages update or information. Your representative should notify you if they got the message from IRCC.
Also, you might be able to get your GCMS notes if you can obtain your application file number from your representative. It will show much details of your application.

I think I will let it go for another couple of months as my family composition is going to change very soon and I can't go for upfront medical until then. I will evaluate this again after that, if I find delay with IRCC communication.
Anyways, as "Journey to Pr" mentioned - we are going to get PR someday. Thanks!

my situation is the latter
I have representative but I haven't paid the third stage fee ( apply to federal govt) and she delayed my requests these days and I was a bit upset and unsatisfied.
that is the main reason I have the idea to apply it on my own. I wanna terminate the contract with her.
the idea that I can pay one agent or lawyer to review my form is great.
I don't know. I am just asking if there is any benefit/advantage/merits of a representative.
My representative clearly told me that he is not going to link my application with GCKEY. He clarified saying that it is impossible to check all of his clients application with GCKEY account everyday. So, he only relies upon the email notifications from IRCC.
However, I can't link as I have a representative. So, I am evaluating whether to disassociate my representative from my application or not. I am in a confused state now.
Exactly the same happened to me. My representative said it is not important to link the application but I insisted in 2 formal emails asking him to link my application as I received an email from IRCC ( he forwarded it to me with the AOR email) in how to link the application and clearly states that if you don't link your application within 7 days, there might be a delay in processing the application.
then he asked his assistant to link my application and finally she sent me a confirmation.
I was very frustrated because I thought he doesn't care about any delay I might face as he already got a complete payment.

can you guys tell me are your representatives Canadian by birth? Mine is not.
I thought my representative has problem, but it seems you all come across similar issues. seems no one can truly trust except ourselves?
