I thought security was done after eligibility was met, well , this is something new.
How do you know your eligibility changed to ongoing?

Based on my calls after Ghost updates, I see. Earlier told, my Eligibility pass or recommended pass. Now the agent today said eligibility is still ongoing. others are passed. Confused!

@oykeam Based on the trends I'm seeing it looks like calling to speak with an agent is proving to be useless. They are being bombarded with calls and seem to be pushing back on us applicants. Things change with the applications and because they are within the stated processing time, they dont seem to feel like they need to give any information

Probably this must be one of the very few cases where eligibility went from pass to ongoing after background security criminality was passed. Or Maybe the call center guys didn't answer you properly, better to send a webform and wait for their reply

I called IRCC yesterday and I was told Eligibility is met, criminality is passed and security has not started yet. Does this mean my application is at the final processing stage? How long does security clearance take?

Got a reply to the webform

"We verified the information you provided and can confirm that your application is still in process.

Since it was received on December 20, 2019, it is still within regular processing times.

All the required documents and information have been received by the responsible office for the moment.

In the meantime, we can confirm that:

• The background verifications are in process.
• The security background verification has not been initiated.
• The criminal background verification has not been initiated"

I think my application is still early on in the process. No mention of eligibility or which CPC/CIO.

I'm at 40% progress now, will just get in touch again with them at 80%

what is the difference between background verification,security,criminal check? i thought there is only criminal and security check.
can someone explain

DOes your background status check show "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."? Usually this happens during Security check (also called IP2 stage).

From what I understood by reading other forums, BG checks means verifying that you are and what you offer are exactly as you claim...ex: degree...IELTS...POF...work experience...basically everything that you're claiming points for..in my case a PR sibling in Canada too.

This essentially covers eligiblity checks as well. I guess this is why once application is finalised later, we'll see in the profile page that BG checks and elgibility do get approved on the same date

Background checks are security and criminality. ielts and eca are verified at the eligibility stages.

I doubt BG checks are security and criminality. Otherwise, how come my status shows BG checks are in process when neither security nor criminality are yet initiated....

security is not done by IRCC, hence they have no control over it and the call center agents won't even know about it. if you want to know about background checks there is a detailed explanation by legal falcon, search for the anatomy of background checks

I know that neither security nor medicals are done by IRCC. They only obtain the results and update us accordingly

After all we don't know the particulars...our only reliable reference is what we get from IRCC and no 2 cases are exactly the same isn't it.

This is good, looks like ur eligibility is under final review provided that earlier it was recommended passed. Seems as ur eligibility is being verified by final officer hence “in progress”. You should hear some good news real soon. Btw what’s ur VO?
