I took Oath at 2pm (Nov 06), saw my status "Complete" on Nov 07 morning. Went there at passport office around 11am and they accepted my application. In nutshell, they accepted passport application less than 24 hours after Oath ceremony. Citizenship Judge announced in ceremony, you can apply for passport on Nov 08.
Just sharing so that if anyone want to apply for passport early, he/she can go to passport office as soon as status change from decision made to "Completed".
Thanks & Good luck everyone.. !
If there is someone who needs a passport urgently, they can request a manual check on their citizenship certificate even if it doesn't show up in their system. They have a way of verifying it. I won't recommend using this method if you can wait until it shows "Complete". But yeah, it's not necessary that you wait exactly 2 days. You can go earlier or even right after your ceremony.
Congratulations! Well done in reaching the final stage. Wishing you all the very best for your final Oath ceremony and finally an end to the whole process. Spreadsheet updated.
I received invitation for oath today for 28th Nov 2019.
Test was done on 14th September Mississauga office.
However I am planning for travel in December 1st week to visit India. Is it safe to ask for postponing the ceremony for me?
Any Indians here who recently applied for eVISA for Inida, where you can apply online and get the visa in couple of hours/days. I see that as one of the option from the info on https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/. But I don't see that in google search because search returned results as BLS the only option.
Question - Do you take the oath the same office where you took the test? I am asking because I am from Brampton and the nearest office is Mississauga. My test however will be done in Scarborough.
Why do you want to postpone the ceremony? You can apply for passport after 24 to 48 hours of your ceremony (you may apply even sooner if they change your status to complete sooner that 24 hours). When you go to passport Canada, there is an urgent processing which gives you the passport the next business day, for an extra ~100$. So you’ll be safe for your travel in the first week of December.
