Hello everyone am filling out my application and they are asking me for UCI # I don't have one , where should I get one? next question which you think would work faster if we do our application our self or use a representative ????
My visa and work permit expires over a year now can I still apply for work permit when sending my application for PR

Yes you do have a UCI number, it is stated on your visitor visa and work permit, that number you use it for any application you apply for with immigration
Filing your application with a representative doesn't make your application special to immigration, however, experienced representatives can help you avoid mistakes and advice you which can help in avoiding unnecessary delays
Your visitor visa and work permit are going to expire in a year or you mean that they expired already? When do/did they expire?

People say it's a hussle to link OWP at first, it takes lots of tries to be able to link it, so keep trying!

I don't think it's about the number of trials or different info, it's just not inserted in the system yet, hopefully soon

hello, any idea about stages of the sponsorship application? Hopefully tom we will receive the letter why our app was returned. I am kinda worried still tho, if this gonna be serious or just a document errors or missed docs. ? The call center agent told me its possible just missing docs or error. We applied for commonlaw sponsorship. We got bills for 12 mons, life and health care insurance, ids with same address, letter from fam and friends, pictures from travel together, and more. . You think this is enough? I hope nothing serious. Any ideas ?

You can't apply for an open work permit if you don't have any valid status right now, you don't qualify for it

If you apply for a work permit while you are out of status they won't accept it, they'll return it with your whole pr application probably,
You should call CIC in front of your husband and confirm that you can't apply for OWP while you are out of status or you can go with your husband to an immigration lawyer who will confirm the same thing.
And yes, you can still use that UCI number, it never expires

The explanation letter should be included in the returned package. They do not send the letter separately

If the OP is out of status, applying for OWP won't give implied status, since having valid status is required in order to be even eligible. The application will be rejected outright. The OP needs to apply for restoration of status as a temporary resident, assuming 90 days hasn't passed since their status expired. Once restoration is approved, the OP can then apply for an OWP.

They're no longer qualified for restoration.
This is what I am referring to:
