I feel the CIC has a huge load of applications to deal with and this requires due diligence as to who qualifies to be Canadian citizens which no doubt consumes time. You are absolutely right. There are many things that we don't know about how their system works. We cannot assume that they are not doing anything as they have to be extremely diligent in giving out citizenship. However, bureaucracy is bureaucracy in the end and some cases are bound to succumb to it. Patience is the key. Everybody will get it eventually.

Oath Ceremony went really well with some patriotic videos, Speeches , giving Oath, getting the coveted Citizenship Certificate and Singing National Anthem.
And in Judge's words '115 people from 30 different countries assembled for the event and same 115 people left the hall as citizens of 1 great Country'
Try contacting your local MP - maybe the MP's office can get you some update / status of your application.
Plus, you can ask them about your application through webform - they usually speed up the process if 12 months have already passed or if it is near 12 month completion.
Did they ask for fingerprints yet ? Because when they ask for fingerprints, the next step is test invite (- at least that's how my application got processed).

Hello everyone, i’m a 2018 January applicant, My application has been in process since March, that same month I got a letter that said they have sent my application to a special case and that will cause a delay.When I called them the officer said it was because of my name change. I recently got my new PR with my new name and it’s updated in status, I just wanted to know if anyone knows what is a special case, Thanks
