That was the agent told me exam and oathtaking the same day when I contacted CIC this morning.. I was surprised but maybe because Its a 3 hours drive from my place to Edmonton.

I just checked my ECAS status today and this appeared.. pls update. thank you

2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 21, 2018.
3. We started processing your application on June 25, 2018.
4. We sent you a notice on August 15, 2018 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on September 14, 2018 at 11:15 AM. The notice you will receive will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Are all applicants required to do fingerprints ? or is it solely based on luck ?

If they ask, then only Fingerprints need to be done.

If there is match with someone who shares similar name and/or date of birth, they normally ask for fingerprints.

Hi guys. It looks like this year the things are a bit slow. I am really shocked to see that a very few lucky people got the invitation for test who applied in March or early April. I know 3 persons who applied in March last year and they were done with oath in August (Edmonton). And the processing time was 12 months last year as well. Is it because they changed the physical presence requirement from 4 to 3 years that have caused a backlog and causing a delay?

Logged in to check my application status today and now it shows In Progress instead of In Process. Not exactly sure what it means or when it changed. Perhaps in the last few weeks.
