I know this may not sound logical but I cannot trust myself to think straight any more. So my mom's medicals started last year on Nov 17, by the time we finished all tests and the doctor sent the files to CIC it was early December. Then it was Dec 30th that I had confirmation of the results being received by CIC.
we have received a request for passport and waiting to receive a visa. I just noticed that there is a table in My CIC account which says the visa will be valid until end of December.
Does this make sense? can my mom arrive by the end of December or do you think she should arrive in Canada by mid-November ( one year from start of medical exams exactly) to be on the safe side?
New edits :I was too tired and confused when posting the original question last night. My question really is this: Is there any chance that when she arrives (say on December 20th) on a valid visa (visa expires Dec 30th) she won't be admitted on the basis that it has been over one year from when she did her medical exams?]
I would imagine that the validity of the visa is the only factor but then just want to make sure I am not overlooking anything.
Thank you to those who care to share their opinion.
The validity of the CoPR is till the date of expiry of medicals
ie., till one year from the date of medicals received by CIC.
I am also in the same boat
But I am already in Canada on visitor visa. I got my Passport back with the CoPR valid until 25th Dec. 2017 - date of expiry of medicals.
Please spread this to all whose medicals are expiring:
I checked Operational Bulletin 423 - May 24, 2012 available from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob423.asp which states The process applies to cases where a final decision of an officer is pending only due to the expiration of a medical certificate or when the validity of the medical certificate is about to expire and the applicant is unable to land before it expires.

the validity of the visa is the only factor: that date is the final date your mom can enter Canada to become a PR. You should not worry about how it is calculated as long as the data is stamped on the passport (this is the officer's job.. you understanding how it is done is a good thing, but it is not your "duty" to calculate it). it is always better however to book an earlier flight just in case the flight get delayed by weather conditions or they encounter plane issues or any other unexpected factor. it also lower the stress level. if you miss the visa date (Dec 30th) this will be a big issue as they will probably cancel the whole process and ask you to start over.
so if you can book 10 days, or 2weeks in advance (as early as you can) and don't wait for the last minutes, so if something comes up, you are still ok to rebook another flight and do the landing.
it took almost 30 days to receive the feedback but it depends on how busy they are. They still say it may take more than 30 days to receive a respond, and if 30 days pass, you should contact them. In your case, you should contact them.
best luck to you.
I got mine within the time frame and I see some due dates which are in the past and nothing has happened. The file was last updated when they sent me sponsorship confirmation and since then no activity on the file. The Due date is stated one year from then, but i guess that is just auto generated and it can be longer than that. As per the file the Security checks for my parents should have been 2016 May and nothing happened. I guess we just need to wait.
Hi, everyone. my parents did the ME in Feb, and my dad was requested to do a second ME which was done in June, file transferred to Manila office. Nothing updated now. I am worried now , any one know
how long will the medical be valid ? Is it half year or one year? Is it counting from the first ME or last one>
